Message from chairperson

“I am deeply committed to improving the living conditions of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nepal. With the motto “We Ensure the Right to Read,” ALRC Nepal has been actively working to provide accessible reading materials and promote the rights of visually impaired individuals. Despite the challenges I faced growing up, including physical limitations and societal discrimination, I remained determined to pursue education and advocate for disability rights. Since 2019, I have led ALRC Nepal in producing and distributing over 7,000 digital talking books, personally narrating around 4,000 of them. These resources support individuals with print disabilities, enabling them to access knowledge and education.

Beyond my role at ALRC Nepal, I have collaborated with organizations like the National Human Rights Protection Forum for the Disabled Nepal (NHRPFDN), the National Association of Physically Disabled (NAPD), and the National Disabled Youth Network (NDYN) to enhance education, healthcare, employment, and accessibility for PWDs. My advocacy work has included policy engagement, awareness campaigns, and even hunger strikes to demand meaningful change. While some progress has been made, much more needs to be done. Legal frameworks exist, but their implementation remains inadequate. I urge everyone to unite in supporting disability rights—ensuring dignity, equity, and opportunities for all. Let’s work together to build an inclusive society.”
